Get ready, ChumCity! Former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell officially kicked off his campaign for Attorney General bright and early Monday. After eight years on the bench, Mitchell resigned to pursue Alabama's top law enforcement gig in the 2026 Republican primary.

"Warrior for Trump and the America First Agenda"

Mitchell's coming out swinging! He's pitching himself as a proud Alabamian, a staunch conservative, and a dedicated advocate for President Trump's vision. He promises to bring his courtroom experience to "battle for the people of Alabama."

"With President Trump in the White House, we have a unique opportunity to get conservative wins here in Alabama," Mitchell stated. "I’m running for Attorney General to stop the lawlessness, restore order, and dismantle Joe Biden’s radical left wing policies.”

Tough on Crime, Big on Trump

Mitchell's banking on his reputation for conservative rulings and a tough stance on crime from his time on the Supreme Court. He's eager to take a more active role in pushing the Trump agenda as the state's top cop.

"This isn’t just my race– it’s our fight for Alabama’s future. I’ll take on the radical left, advance the Trump agenda, and never stop fighting for our state,” he proclaims.

Key Issues: Crime, Immigration, and "Wokeness"

Mitchell's campaign vows to crack down on violent crime, enforce immigration laws, back the blue, defend the sanctity of life, and combat the "woke agenda" wherever it rears its head.

The Competition Heats Up

The race for Attorney General is already getting crowded! Katherine Robertson, who currently works for current AG Steve Marshall, and Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey are also in the mix. Lloyd Peoples was speculated to jump into the race, but has reportedly decided against running.

Mitchell's War Chest

Mitchell reported having over $650,000 on hand from his previous campaign, which he can now use for his AG bid. We're waiting to see what his next financial report reveals!

Rick Pate Shoots for Lieutenant Governor in '26!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCity! Alabama's Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate just announced he's setting his sights on the Lieutenant Governor's seat in 2026!

From Farm to Future?

Many expected Pate to run for Governor, but he's decided on Lt. Governor instead, as he's term-limited out of his current role. He gave a shout-out to his buddy U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is eyeing the Governor's mansion in '26.

What's Pate's Plan?

Pate's all about continuing his public service gig, championing farmers, small businesses, rural areas, and our veterans. "I've spent my life working the land, running a business, and serving my neighbors," Pate declared.

"American First" All the Way

He’s promising to back President Trump and Coach Tuberville in pushing the "American First Agenda," aiming to keep Alabama a place where families thrive, agriculture booms, and conservative values rule.

Pate's Roots

This isn't some city slicker we're talking about! Pate grew up on a cattle farm in Lowndes County. He's got a horticulture degree from Auburn (War Eagle!), ran Pate Landscape Co. for 38 years, and even served as mayor of Lowndesboro for 14 years before becoming Ag Commissioner in 2018.

Ag Commissioner Achievements

During his time as Commissioner, Pate launched the "Sweet Grown Alabama" program (think local!), expanded the Farm-to-School initiative, and led the "Thank a Farmer" campaign. He's also overseen a new Pesticide Residue Lab in Auburn and snagged funding for meat and poultry inspection programs.

Deep in the Republican Game

Pate's no stranger to politics. He's been President of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture and served as an RNC delegate and Electoral College elector for President Trump in both 2020 and 2024.

"Food Security is National Security"

Pate emphasizes the importance of Alabama's farmers, vowing to give them the support they need.

A Crowded Race

Pate's entering a growing Republican field for Lieutenant Governor, including Secretary of State Wes Allen, Nicole Wadsworth, and potentially, Alabama Republican Party Chairman, John Wahl.

Campaign Cash

Pate reportedly had $134,529.45 in his campaign account earlier this year that he can now use for his run for Lt. Governor in 2026.
