The Alabama House Military & Veterans Affairs Committee, along with reps from the Alabama Departments of Veterans Affairs and Mental Health, recently visited the historic Tuskegee campus of the Central Alabama VA Health Care System. It wasn't just another official tour, though! The visit was sparked by a heartfelt conversation with a veteran who received behavioral health treatment at the facility. Their positive experience inspired me to see firsthand what services are available to Alabama vets. Military veterans deserve more than just thanks; they need timely and effective care, especially for their mental health. With only two inpatient VA behavioral health facilities in Alabama (Tuskegee and Tuscaloosa), supporting these resources is critical. As a veteran myself, I know that stopping the bleeding is just the first step. We need to identify the source of the problem. This applies to mental health too. We must urgently provide care, but lasting change requires addressing the root causes. I was joined by fellow committee members and key leaders from state agencies. Their presence highlights the importance of teamwork in supporting veterans' mental health. During the visit, I provided a Veterans Crisis Line yard sign—Dial 988, Press 1—to be displayed alongside the Operational We Remember flag. It's a life-saving resource and a visible reminder to veterans: "We see you, we honor you, and we’re here for you." This visit was a valuable chance to bring together leaders committed to expanding access to mental health support for our veterans. The House Military & Veterans Affairs Committee is committed to building stronger partnerships, evaluating existing services, and pushing for meaningful improvements, both at the state and federal levels. To every Alabama veteran: You are not alone. Your service is honored, your needs are seen, and your well-being is a priority. State Rep. Our very own Senator Katie Britt recently put U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi in the hot seat during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. The topics? Everything from the dangers lurking online for our kids to tackling crime right here in our cities! Britt kicked things off by pressing Bondi on what the Department of Justice is doing to combat the sickening trend of social media sextortion targeting minors. Bondi assured her that they're on it, extraditing offenders from around the globe and locking them up for as long as possible. Her advice to parents? Get involved! "Your child has no right to privacy on the internet," Bondi stated, emphasizing the need for parental monitoring. Senator Britt didn't stop there. She urged Bondi to crack down on offshore entities pushing addictive online gaming on young men and to go after Chinese companies peddling unregulated vaping products aimed at our kids. Bondi agreed to both! With tensions high in the Middle East, Britt also questioned Bondi on the rise of antisemitism in America. Bondi praised President Trump's past efforts to bring peace, suggesting he's the one who can resolve the current conflict. Finally, Britt addressed the recent horrific mass shooting in Montgomery, asking what the Justice Department is doing to combat crime in our cities. Bondi acknowledged the challenge, vowing that federal law enforcement is working "non-stop" to make America safe again, at the directive of President Trump. "That’s what we’re going to do in this country, Senator Britt."Senator Britt Grills Attorney General Bondi on Key Issues!

The Petroleum and Convenience Marketers Association of Alabama (P&CMA) is putting its weight behind State Sen. Jack Williams in his bid for Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries! That's right, folks, the group representing hundreds of small business owners in Alabama's fuel and convenience scene is all in. P&CMA says it's all about Williams' pro-business track record and his deep understanding of how fuel and agriculture are intertwined, keeping Alabama's economy humming. Williams, a Republican representing Northern Mobile County, is a retired nursery operator. He's been a voice for District 34 in the Senate since 2018, and before that, he served in the Alabama House. You might remember him as the guy who championed the ban on lab-grown meat – which Governor Ivey later signed into law! "Jack gets our industry and how vital Alabama’s fuel suppliers are to agriculture," said Rex Jones, P&CMA Board Chair. "We know he'll keep strengthening the link between energy, farming, and our rural economies as Commissioner." Williams is a fourth-generation farmer from Wilmer. He's been fighting for Alabama's farmers, small businesses, and rural communities for over a decade. Now, he's aiming for that open Ag Commissioner seat. Jack and his wife Bobbie have been married for 50 years and built J Bar W Farm together, focusing on cattle, timber, and hay. They even expanded into the nursery business, creating Twin Oaks Nursery and later acquiring Tom Dodd Nurseries. Now, their son and grandson are keeping the family legacy going! Throughout his time in the legislature, Williams has been a consistent voice for conservative values. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of key committees, including Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry. From banning lab-grown meat to cutting taxes on agricultural fencing and legalizing baiting for deer and pigs, Williams has been a champion for Alabama's agricultural community. Williams even sponsored legislation to ease the burden on truckers, limiting roadside truck detentions and allowing appeals for overweight citations. P&CMA believes Williams will fight for farm families, small business owners, protect our natural resources, and oppose government overreach as Commissioner. "The petroleum and convenience industry keeps our farms running, our supply chains moving, our rural communities supported, and Alabama supplied with reliable fuel," Williams said. "As Commissioner, I’ll make sure agriculture and industry work hand in hand with business owners across Alabama to strengthen our economy." This is Williams' second major endorsement, following the Alabama Forestry Association's support in June. He's vying for the seat being vacated by Commissioner Rick Pate, who is term-limited and running for Lt. Governor. Mark your calendars: the primary election is May 19, 2026!Fueling the Future: P&CMA Backs Jack Williams for Ag Commissioner!

The Alabama Republican Party just welcomed a fresh face – and it's a familiar one! Clarke County License Commissioner Linda Goodman is officially trading in her Donkey pin for an Elephant one, folks. She got the official thumbs-up at a recent Clarke County Republican Executive Committee shindig. “Linda's been a stellar License Commissioner, going the extra mile for her people," exclaimed Clarke County Republican Party Chair Summer Padget. "We're thrilled to have her on board!†Goodman, a 22-year veteran of her role, says the Democratic Party ain't what it used to be. She told local GOP bigwigs that their values have taken a detour, leaving her principles behind. ALGOP Chairman John Wahl is pumped about Goodman's decision, saying the modern Democratic Party is increasingly out of sync with Alabama voters. “The Democrat Party has lost touch with working families by abandoning traditional Alabama values,†Wahl stated. “The Alabama Republican Party will always champion individual rights, parental rights, safe communities, and a thriving future. I'm eager to welcome Linda to the Republican family." The ALGOP has been actively involved in local races, rolling out resources to support candidates. With Goodman's arrival, the Republicans are further solidifying their dominance in Alabama. They currently hold over 73% of all partisan elected positions at the federal, state, and county levels. Heads up, ChumCity citizens! Ever notice how some folks on the left are quick to downplay the violence we're seeing, claiming the real threat comes from the right? It's like clockwork. Whether it's supposed outrage over something Charlie Kirk said or the actions of a border agent, they always seem to find a way to excuse their own side's behavior. These masterminds will have you believe the mayhem will magically disappear the second they're in charge and everyone agrees with them. Sound familiar? Here's the thing: they actually believe this. And they're finally admitting it. So, what do you think, ChumCity? Time to take them at their word?
