Just two days after cruising to victory in the Birmingham mayoral race, Randall Woodfin is already shaking things up! Remember that wild mayoral race? Yeah, the one where State Rep. Juandalynn Givan (D-Birmingham) went head-to-head with Woodfin? It got messy. From FCC complaints to residency squabbles and a Facebook Live lawsuit, Givan's campaign was a rollercoaster that ended with just 5% of the vote compared to Woodfin’s dominating 75%. Ouch! But wait, there's more! This Thursday, Woodfin threw his support behind Alicia Escott Lumpkin for Alabama House District 60 – Givan's seat for the past 15 years. Talk about a power move! "District 60 deserves better than finger-pointing and excuses," Woodfin declared. He's backing Lumpkin, a "lifelong Birmingham resident" with a focus on people. He added that Lumpkin brings the needed "vision and experience" for expanding opportunities, healthcare, and safer communities. Givan and Lumpkin, both Democrats, will face off in the May 19, 2026 primary for HD60, covering parts of Ensley, Five Points West, and North Birmingham. If Givan loses, she could make history...but not in a good way. It would mark a rare trifecta of losses in local, state, and federal elections. Stay tuned, ChumCity, this is getting interesting!Woodfin's Next Move: Endorsing Givan's Challenger!
