Longshore & McKnight Dish on Bama & Auburn!

John and Barry were at it again on Longshore and McKnight, diving headfirst into Alabama's looming clash with ULM. Will a big win silence the doubters after the Tide's recent struggles? They debated if it's too early to compare DeBoer to the DuBose and Shula eras – a bit harsh, right?

Meanwhile, Auburn's Ball State game got a less intense grilling. Philip Marshall thinks it'd take a monumental meltdown for the Tigers to even sweat!

Auburn's Radio Booth Gets a Makeover!

The guys also chatted about the Auburn radio booth shakeup, with Jason Campbell stepping in for Stan White. Remember White's unfiltered passion during the Malzahn and Harsin rollercoasters? Even Bama fans tuned in for the Auburn drama! Campbell's calmer style is still finding its groove.

Early NFL Buzz & a Deep Dive into Auburn's Baylor Win!

They tossed around some early NFL storylines, like the Cowboys-Eagles showdown. Then, Jason Caldwell from Auburn Undercover hopped on to dissect the Tigers' victory over Baylor. He pointed out Jackson Arnold's legs, Eric Singleton's decoy skills, and a few defensive blips. Progress? Definitely. Perfect? Not quite!

Alabama Republicans Push for Epstein Probe

Alabama's GOP congressmen are digging in! They all voted Wednesday to keep the House Oversight Committee hot on the trail of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Dems Say "Nay"

However, Alabama's Democratic representatives, Terri Sewell (Birmingham) and Shomari Figures (Mobile), voted against the measure. The vote ultimately split along party lines, 212-208.

Johnson's Alternative Plan

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) is framing this as a solid alternative to Rep. Thomas Massie's (R-Kentucky) wild proposal to unleash all the Epstein files within a month.

Massie's Move Causes Waves

Massie's push has apparently caused some serious ripples, even leading to an early August recess! Word is, former President Trump isn't exactly thrilled either.

Moore Speaks Up

"I voted for the Oversight Committee to keep digging into Jeffrey Epstein," said Rep. Barry Moore (R-Enterprise). He and fellow Alabama Republicans Mike Rogers, Robert Aderholt, Gary Palmer, and Dale Strong, all backed the measure.

Seeking the Truth

Moore added, "Congress needs to find the truth and make sure everyone's held responsible."

Full Transparency?

Moore also mentioned, "President Trump's administration has been the most transparent ever, and I believe they'll support this investigation until the truth is out."

Docs Already Released

The Oversight Committee already dropped thousands of documents related to the Epstein and Maxwell case earlier this week. Stay tuned, ChumCity will keep you posted!

AHSAA's School Choice Stance: Another Year-Long Bench Warmer?

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is at it again. Despite the CHOOSE Act, a school choice bill designed to give students more educational freedom, the AHSAA is reportedly sticking to its guns, requiring students utilizing the act to sit out a year before hitting the field or court.

What About the Law?

The twist? The actual law seemingly says participation in school choice shouldn't limit eligibility! This isn't the AHSAA's first rodeo with controversial decisions.

Time for a Change at AHSAA?

Is it time to reign in these bureaucrats and bring some accountability to the AHSAA? Many think so!

The Voice of Reason

Dale Jackson, a thought leader at Yellowhammer News and host of a talk show on WVNN (weekdays 5-9 a.m.), is sure to be discussing this hot topic. Tune in to hear his take!

Weight Loss Ads: A Cause for Concern?

Ever notice those weight loss medication ads popping up everywhere? While they can be helpful for those genuinely seeking obesity treatment, they can also be seriously risky when targeted at the wrong people.

The Compounding Problem

Big pharma ads have to play by the rules, but some telemedicine companies are pushing compounded (non-FDA approved) weight loss drugs to people who maybe don't need them, aren't fully informed about the risks, or, worryingly, might even have conditions like anorexia.

Body Image Blues

As someone who supports young women and those with mental health struggles like anorexia, these ads are troubling. We're already battling unrealistic body images on social media. This just adds fuel to the fire.

The FDA's Role (and Limits)

The FDA regulates ads for FDA-approved drugs, but not for these compounded versions. They also don't test them for impurities. These drugs weren't meant for mass consumption, yet here we are, without the usual safety nets.

What's Compounding?

Compounding is when pharmacies mix ingredients to create customized medications. It's useful when someone needs a liquid form of a pill, or a specific cancer treatment is unavailable. But, following shortages of GLP-1 drugs, compounding pharmacies jumped into mass-producing weight loss meds, and aggressively marketing them.

Profit Over People?

This represents a huge challenge. Mental health pros and their patients are facing uncharted territory. FDA-approved drug ads need the FDA's okay, meaning transparency, benefits and risks. Compounded drug ads? Not so much.

Who's Being Targeted?

Telemedicine companies have a lot of leeway to target anyone, even those who aren't overweight or who might be harmed by these drugs.

Obesity vs. Eating Disorders

Obesity is a serious disease that needs treatment. Eating disorders are life-threatening too! Ads for any weight loss drug must clearly explain the risks and benefits.

Training Needed

As these telemedicine companies pop up, healthcare pros need training to screen out people with a history of anorexia before prescribing weight loss treatments.

The Bigger Picture

Ads have power! Let's protect public health. All drug manufacturers, whether they're selling FDA-approved meds or compounded ones, should play by the same rules.

Senator Britt Sounds Off on Tide's Rough Start

Alabama Senator Katie Britt didn't hold back her feelings about the Crimson Tide's recent gridiron stumble, dishing out her thoughts on "The Dale Jackson Show" Wednesday morning.

Britt and Trump Talk Tide

Fresh off standing alongside President Trump and the Alabama Republican delegation as he announced Huntsville would be the permanent home of Space Command, Britt had some choice words about the Tide's less-than-stellar performance against Florida State. Even Trump couldn't resist a playful jab during the announcement!

"Uncharted Territory"

"Obviously, the President had a lot of material to work with after the poor performance that we saw on Saturday," Britt quipped, admitting she tried to steer Trump away from the topic. "Clearly this is uncharted territory for many of us, at least in recent memory."

Senate Rivals Pile On

The ribbing hasn't stopped there. Britt shared that her Senate colleagues are having a field day. "I saw JD Vance yesterday. JD got in a little spar. So the trolling is in full effect for sure!" She added, "Everybody is coming for me right now, so I'm going to need the Tide to man up and to come out and to show some grit."

A Call to Action

With tough matchups against Georgia, South Carolina, and LSU on the horizon, many fans are feeling anxious. Britt remains optimistic, urging the team to remember what it means to wear the Crimson Tide uniform.

"I need them to feel that and to show us on the field that they understand who they're playing for... Because I believe in these guys. I believe they have the talent. I believe they have the ability to dominate. Now I need them to believe that!"

The Tide will look to bounce back this Saturday at home against the University of Louisiana Monroe. Will they answer the call?
