Get ready, Huntsville! Raytheon just kicked off a massive $115 million expansion of its Redstone Raytheon Missile Integration Facility! This isn't just a little renovation; we're talking about adding 26,000 square feet – boosting the factory's size by over 50%! The best part? This expansion is projected to bring around 185 new jobs to our awesome city! Construction is slated to wrap up next year. The Redstone facility is a crucial hub for integrating missile programs for the U.S. Missile Defense Agency, the U.S. Navy, and other important clients. They're already working on nine types of the Standard Missile family, including the SM-3 and SM-6, and will soon be producing even more defense programs, like the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI) designed to tackle hypersonic glide vehicles. "This investment will help us meet the growing needs of our military customers," says Raytheon President Phil Jasper. Governor Kay Ivey also shared her enthusiasm, stating Alabama has always been a leader in innovation, especially in defense.
