Rep. Rex Reynolds Named RC&D Legislator of the Year!

Huntsville's own State Rep. Rex Reynolds (R) just snagged a major award! The Alabama Association of RC&D Councils (AARCD) has named him their 2025 RC&D Legislator of the Year.

Honored at Guntersville

The big announcement happened at the Alabama Mountains, Rivers & Valleys RC&D annual conference at Guntersville State Park Lodge. It was a gathering of RC&D rockstars from all over Alabama, celebrating the teamwork that makes our communities stronger through conservation and development projects.

A Champion for Communities

This award recognizes lawmakers who are seriously dedicated to community development, conservation, and those amazing grassroots partnerships. Reynolds, who's the chair of the House General Fund Committee, got the nod for his outstanding leadership and advocacy statewide.

"Boots on the Ground"

“What I enjoy most about what we do in the legislature is appropriating funds that get down to our non-profits and our community-based programs, like RC&D, doing the ‘boots on the ground’ work,” Reynolds said. He also thanked them for their work across the state.

Investing in Alabama's Future

The Alabama Association of RC&D Councils partners with the Legislature to put state funds back into local projects. Think outdoor classrooms, better internet in rural areas, farm innovation, helping out volunteer fire departments, and cleaning up the environment. It's all about making Alabama a better place to live!

Making a Difference

Katie Conner, executive director of the AARC&D Councils, praised Reynolds as an "incredible advocate" who truly cares about the people RC&D serves. Renona Seibert, executive director of the AMRV RC&D Council, also expressed gratitude for Reynolds's commitment to North Alabama, helping bring resources directly to the communities they serve.

RC&D: Making Alabama Better!

The Alabama Association of RC&D Councils (AARCD) helps coordinate nine local councils across the state, ensuring funds are used wisely for education, economic growth, conservation, and making our communities the best they can be!
