The battle to become Alabama's next Attorney General is already a full-blown, big-money showdown! With current AG Steve Marshall term-limited in 2026, the Republican primary is shaping up to be a scorcher. Jay Mitchell, fresh off the Alabama Supreme Court, jumped into the race and immediately transferred $654,304.40 from a previous campaign. In June alone, he raked in another $654,304.40, bringing his total war chest to a cool $1,288,362.86. "This early support is humbling," Mitchell stated, emphasizing his commitment to conservative values and Alabama families. Not to be outdone, Katherine Robertson, a long-time chief counsel to AG Marshall and former top staffer for Jeff Sessions, made a splash of her own. In her very first fundraising report, Robertson announced she'd amassed an impressive $1,255,620.00 in June! Unlike Mitchell, Robertson started from scratch, with no carry-over funds. "It is heartening to have earned the confidence of so many individuals," Robertson said, highlighting her dedication to making Alabama safer and freer. Robertson's donors included a mix of individuals and corporations, including a whopping $1 million contribution from First Principles Action, Inc. With over $1.25 million raised and minimal spending, her campaign boasts a healthy $1,231,595.12 on hand. Her campaign claims this shows a "broad base of support" from inside and outside Alabama. Pamela Casey, the District Attorney of Blount County, is also in the running. Her latest filing shows a total of $25,966.26 on hand. The race is on, ChumCity!
