Big News for Rural Alabama Thanks to Senators Britt & Tuberville!

Alabama's rural healthcare is set to get a major boost, thanks to the efforts of Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville in the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act"! This bill includes some fantastic wins for our state's vital rural hospitals and Medicaid funding.

A Whopping $50 Billion for Rural Health!

The Senate added an amendment that creates the Rural Health Transformation Program, a huge nationwide fund of $50 billion! This money will be spread out over Fiscal Years 2026-2030.

Alabama's Share: At Least $500 Million!

Get this: half of the funding is formula-based, and Alabama is expected to snag a cool $500 million! If that gets split evenly, that means over $9.26 million for EACH of our 54 rural hospitals!

Even MORE Potential Funding!

But wait, there's more! The other half of that national fund will be awarded based on need. And with Alabama's well-known struggles in rural healthcare, we're in a prime position to grab a big piece of that $25 billion pie!

Medicaid Protected!

Another key amendment protects Alabama's Medicaid funding by locking in our hospital provider tax rate at 6%. That's stability you can count on!

Protecting Medicaid for Those Who Need It

Senator Britt has explained how this bill is designed to safeguard Medicaid for those truly in need. It removes those not eligible and encourages work for able-bodied adults.

What's Next?

The Senate gave the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" the thumbs up after a marathon voting session. Now, it's heading back to the House for their consideration this week. Fingers crossed!
