Gulf Coast Rail is BACK, Baby!

Get ready to party, ChumCity! Amtrak is officially dropping the deets on the return of passenger rail between New Orleans and Mobile, something we haven't seen since way back in '05!

Mardi Gras Service is Rolling In!

Tomorrow, July 1st, mark your calendars! Amtrak’s VP Nicole Bucich and Southern Rail Commission Chairman Knox Ross will be making HUGE announcements about the "Mardi Gras Service" – think schedules, fares, and the official launch date!

Coast-to-Coast Celebrations!

They're hitting up six cities along the 145-mile route, along with mayors, tourism gurus, and our friends from the freight railroads.

Where and When

Here's the breakdown:

  • 80 AM Central: Mobile's Government Plaza - THIS is where ticket sales launch!
  • 9:45 AM: Pascagoula
  • 110 AM: Biloxi
  • 120 PM: Gulfport
  • 1:15 PM: Bay St. Louis
  • 30 PM: New Orleans (Union Passenger Terminal)

The Route

The twice-daily service will be making stops in Pascagoula, Biloxi, Gulfport, and Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.

Katrina's Shadow

This is a HUGE deal, folks. Passenger trains haven't cruised this corridor since before Hurricane Katrina shut down the Sunset Limited back in 2005. Let the good times ROLL!
