Mobile Mayoral Race Sees Shakeup!

The race for Mobile's next mayor just got a whole lot more interesting! This week, two candidates bowed out, throwing their weight behind State Representative Barbara Drummond (D-District 103).

Battiste and Burrell Endorse Drummond

Former Public Safety Director Lawrence Battiste and former City Councilman Jermaine Burrell both exited the mayoral race. They're now backing Drummond, saying she's the best choice to lead Mobile forward.

"Seismic Shift" for Drummond's Campaign

Drummond calls the endorsements a "seismic shift" in her campaign. She emphasized her commitment to bringing Mobile together and ensuring opportunities for all. Burrell specifically cited her dedication to giving every Mobile child the same advantages he had.

The Remaining Contenders

So, who's left standing? Drummond now faces Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson, former police chief Paul Prine (remember the drama with Mayor Stimpson?), and former judge Spiro Cheriogotis (who's got Mayor Stimpson's support – Stimpson isn't running again, FYI). The deadline to enter the race was June 24th. Get ready for a wild ride, ChumCity!
