Looks like the votes are in! Voters in Fayette, Lamar, Walker, and parts of Jefferson and Tuscaloosa Counties hit the polls Tuesday to choose their new State Senator for District 5. Republican State Representative Matt Woods went head-to-head with Democratic nominee Ryan Cagle in this special election. The seat opened up when former Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Reed joined Governor Ivey's team. According to the Alabama Republican Party, here's how it all shook out: Based on these early numbers, it's looking like Matt Woods is your new State Senator for District 5!
