Etowah County Local Jesse Battles Challenges Senator Andrew Jones in 2026!

Get ready for a showdown in the Alabama State Senate! Lifelong Etowah County resident, local business owner, and farmer Jesse Battles has thrown his hat in the ring, announcing his bid to unseat incumbent Senator Andrew Jones in the 2026 Republican primary.

"Answering the Call"

Battles, sharing the news on Facebook, said he felt encouraged by locals to run. "I’ve listened, and I’m ready to answer that call," he declared, after hearing concerns about current representation.

Platform Priorities

Battles, a self-described conservative, is campaigning on "Alabama values," focusing on social issues, education reform, veterans’ support, and economic development. He's not a fan of Critical Race Theory (CRT) or Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), and is firmly in President Trump's corner.

Taking Aim at Jones's Record

Battles doesn’t hold back! He criticizes Jones’s legislative record, claiming the incumbent supported bills that hurt local businesses, veterans, and essential local services. Battles alleges Jones targeted a local employer and centralized veteran representation decisions in Montgomery, plus pushed revenue changes without offsetting potential public safety funding losses. Ouch!

Battles's Vision for Alabama

Battles is talking policy! He promises to team up with local officials to attract new industries, invest in infrastructure like extending I-759 and building a new Southside Bridge, and support local agriculture and law enforcement. Tackling inflation and trade issues affecting farmers and consumers is also high on his list.

Background and Community Involvement

Battles is no stranger to public service, having worked with the Alabama Secretary of State’s Office. He's currently on the Gadsden-Etowah Industrial Development Authority Board and leads the Gadsden Rotary Club. A Gadsden State Community College and Jacksonville State University grad (where he founded a College Republican chapter!), Battles is deeply rooted in the community.

"Leadership Back Home"

"This isn’t about politics – it’s about people," Battles said. "Let’s bring leadership back home."

Mark your calendars! The Alabama Republican primary for State Senate District 10 is scheduled for May 19, 2026. It's gonna be a battle!
