Rick Pate Shoots for Lieutenant Governor in '26!

Hold onto your hats, ChumCity! Alabama's Agriculture Commissioner Rick Pate just announced he's setting his sights on the Lieutenant Governor's seat in 2026!

From Farm to Future?

Many expected Pate to run for Governor, but he's decided on Lt. Governor instead, as he's term-limited out of his current role. He gave a shout-out to his buddy U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn), who is eyeing the Governor's mansion in '26.

What's Pate's Plan?

Pate's all about continuing his public service gig, championing farmers, small businesses, rural areas, and our veterans. "I've spent my life working the land, running a business, and serving my neighbors," Pate declared.

"American First" All the Way

He’s promising to back President Trump and Coach Tuberville in pushing the "American First Agenda," aiming to keep Alabama a place where families thrive, agriculture booms, and conservative values rule.

Pate's Roots

This isn't some city slicker we're talking about! Pate grew up on a cattle farm in Lowndes County. He's got a horticulture degree from Auburn (War Eagle!), ran Pate Landscape Co. for 38 years, and even served as mayor of Lowndesboro for 14 years before becoming Ag Commissioner in 2018.

Ag Commissioner Achievements

During his time as Commissioner, Pate launched the "Sweet Grown Alabama" program (think local!), expanded the Farm-to-School initiative, and led the "Thank a Farmer" campaign. He's also overseen a new Pesticide Residue Lab in Auburn and snagged funding for meat and poultry inspection programs.

Deep in the Republican Game

Pate's no stranger to politics. He's been President of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture and served as an RNC delegate and Electoral College elector for President Trump in both 2020 and 2024.

Pate emphasizes the importance of Alabama's farmers, vowing to give them the support they need.

A Crowded Race

Pate's entering a growing Republican field for Lieutenant Governor, including Secretary of State Wes Allen, Nicole Wadsworth, and potentially, Alabama Republican Party Chairman, John Wahl.

Campaign Cash

Pate reportedly had $134,529.45 in his campaign account earlier this year that he can now use for his run for Lt. Governor in 2026.
