Hot News: Chris Rutherford Makes History!

Guess what, ChumCity peeps? We've got some seriously awesome news coming out of the Poarch Creek Tribal Police Department! Chris Rutherford was officially sworn in as the new Police Chief on October 28th, 2024!

A Poarch Creek First!

This isn't just any promotion, folks. Chris is making history as the very first Poarch Creek Tribal Citizen to take on the top cop role! He's been with the department since '98, and we're stoked to see him rise through the ranks.

Tribal Chair Stephanie A. Bryan was buzzing about it, saying Chris represents the strength and dedication of the Tribe. She sees it as a huge win for the community, showcasing the amazing talent within. "We look forward to his leadership and the positive impact he will continue to make.” she said.

More Than Just a Badge

Before joining the police force, Chris actually started out as a mechanic for the Tribe 32 years ago! Talk about diverse skills! Plus, he's served in the Alabama National Guard and is even a certified firefighter! This guy’s got it all! He comes from a family of public servants too, with his father in the Army and his grandfather as a fire chief!

Big Shoes, Big Heart

Chris himself says this role is a "tremendous honor" that he's taking super seriously. His supervisor, Bruce Lee, Director of Public Safety, has watched him grow over the years and believes his connection to the Tribe makes him the perfect fit.
