Albums
The discography of the American rock band Toto includes 13 studio albums, four live albums, as well as several compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists as well as on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.
Before the formation of Toto, band members did session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.
Toto's third album, Turn Back, marked an abrupt departure from the progressive sound of their earlier albums and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen quit the group, and they held auditions to find a new frontman. Guitarist Steve Lukather was chosen, and the group recorded their 1986 album Fahrenheit.
Toto released Toto XX in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the band. The group went through old tapes and recordings to create the album. The album was well-received by fans, and Toto began an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.
Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as drummer on the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.

During the tour, lead vocalist Bobby Kimball was arrested on drug charges. The band decided to let him go at the end of the tour and hired guitarist and singer Joseph Williams in his place. David Hungate, the drummer, also left the group after the tour. Leland Sklar was his replacement.

Toto has produced a number of music videos. The band has also released a number of compilation videos and DVDs. The most popular video of the group is "Africa" that has more than one billion views on YouTube. The video is set in a library where the band performs on top of a stack of African books.
The track "Africa" is from the album Toto IV. The song was written by band members and produced by David Paich. It was a huge hit in Europe and many other countries. The success of the single helped Toto to regain their popularity, after their previous album Turn Back failed to chart in America.
After the album's release, Toto went on a world tour. The group was joined by touring backing musicians Lenny Castro, Shannon Forrest, Warren Ham and Shem von Schroeck. Steve Lukather also released his second solo album, Luke.
In 1985 In 1985, drummer Fergie Frederiksen left Toto due to personal reasons. The group decided to hold an audition and ultimately chose Joseph Williams to replace Frederiksen.
Before and during the time of Toto's creation it was a time when its members were session musicians for a broad variety of artists. Drummer Jeff Porcaro and bassist David Hungate performed on the album Silk Degrees by Boz Scaggs which led to the band's formation. Keyboardist Paich was a regular on records by Steely Dan, Seals and Crofts, and Sonny and Cher.
In 1998, Toto started working on the project titled Old Is New. This album featured three new tracks as well as a number of completed recordings of songs from the past. The album was a hit worldwide and the band went on a worldwide tour to promote the album.

Toto known for the hit single "Africa" The group recently came together to promote their latest album, All In. The album, released on November 6, 2018 featured three new tracks from the forthcoming 40 Trips Around the Sun as well as a complete recording of four older tracks with Jeff Porcaro playing drums and Mike or Steve Porcaro playing bass. The album also included the cover version of Weezer's song "Hash Pipe" that they added after hearing it on the radio.
