Get ready, Houston! Alabama A&M University's phenomenal Marching Maroon & White Band is bringing the house down at the 2025 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands! Mark your calendars for August 23rd at NRG Stadium. This will be the band's third appearance at this incredible event, a true showcase of the musical prowess and cultural significance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. They previously rocked the stage back in 2015 (when it was the Queen City Battle of the Bands) and again in 2022. "I'm beyond excited for this," says Director of Bands, Carlton Wright. "It's a HUGE marching band event, and our students are pumped to perform, travel, and connect with other amazing bands." The "Showband of the South" is no stranger to the spotlight! Remember their stellar performance at the 2025 Honda Battle of the Bands? And who could forget leading the 97th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC?! "It's not a competition, it's a celebration!" Wright emphasized. "Seeing our students shine, connect with peers, and represent AAMU on a national stage? That's what it's all about. We can't wait to put on an awesome show for our alumni and friends in Houston!" The National Battle of the Bands is more than just music; it’s a celebration of tradition, talent, and the lasting impact of HBCUs. Derek Webber, CEO of Webber Marketing, says they strive to "elevate the platform and the experience" each year.
