Big Changes at the Alabama Department of Commerce!

The Alabama Department of Commerce is saying farewell to a true champion, Deputy Secretary Angela Till, who's hanging up her hat on May 31, 2025. For almost 12 years, Angela's been the guiding force behind Alabama's incentive program, and her impact on the state's economic boom is undeniable.

"Angela's been instrumental in making Alabama a top contender for businesses looking to grow," says Secretary of Commerce Ellen McNair. Angela's journey started way back at the Department of Revenue's Office of Economic Development, where she served for 14 years.

New Leadership Takes the Helm!

With Angela's well-deserved retirement on the horizon, the Department of Commerce is thrilled to announce some exciting leadership moves, starting June 1st!

  • Erika McKay, currently the Commerce General Counsel, will be stepping into the role of Deputy Secretary! She'll continue to flex her legal muscles as General Counsel, while also heading up the Incentives, Compliance, and Legal divisions. Talk about a superwoman!

  • Rachel Madore is moving on up to Chief Officer of Business Intelligence and Incentives! Get ready for Rachel to take the reins on managing the state's incentive program. She's got the vision and the drive to keep Alabama's economy thriving!

Secretary McNair sums it up best: "Let's raise a glass to Angela's amazing career and give Erika and Rachel a huge ChumCity welcome as they take on their exciting new roles!"
